City of Leawood was incorporated in 1948 with slightly more than 1,000 inhabitants.
The last fifty plus years have been prosperous - today the City's population
is exceeding 30,000 residents. Since 1992, Leawood has had one of the fastest
growing populations in the State of Kansas.

Leawoods
elementary and secondary educational facilities include six public schools in
two districts. Shawnee Mission School District #512 has had constant enrollment
while Blue Valley #229 district has seen rapid growth. Both of these districts have achieved "Gold Medal" ratings from Expansion Management.
