  • Maintaining all City records, proceedings and ordinances.

  • Provides information pertaining to City Council proceedings to general public and other City Departments.

  • Issuing cereal malt beverage, drinking establishment and liquor store licenses.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
The City was incorporated as a First Class City on December 31, 1998. The current population of the City of Leawood is 34,579. The City of Leawood operates under a Mayor-Council form of government. The City is served by a Mayor and eight [8] Councilmembers, which makes up the 'Governing Body.' The City is divided into four [4] Council wards. There are two [2] Councilmembers in each ward who serve staggered terms. Elected Officials, including the Mayor, serve for four [4] year terms.

Potential candidates who are interested in filing are to contact the Johnson County Election Office at 913-782-3441, or www.jocoelection.org. All candidates must pay report fees, filing fees or file a nomination petition, appoint treasurers and file periodic campaign finance reports.
