2016 Kansas City Passport to Adventure

The Historic One-Room Oxford Schoolhouse is pleased to participate in the Interpretive Site Coalition's Passport to Adventure again this year. The schoolhouse is located in Ironwoods Park at 147th & Mission Road.

Now in its 23rd year, Kansas City's Passport to Adventure is a great way for area residents to experience nature, science and history in their own backyard. The annual event is meant to encourage the public to visit area nature centers, museums, historic sites, gardens and parks all year round and during the Passport period, which runs April 11 through October 31, 2015.

The Interpretive Site Coalition of Kansas City officially begins its Passport to Adventure each year with a Kickoff Event at Bass Pro Shops. Both the Kickoff Event and Passport program participation are free of charge.

The kickoff is the public's first opportunity to obtain the official Passport booklet. Participants will have until October 31, 2015 to visit 9 or more of the 18 sites listed to get their passport stamped. Everyone who obtains 9 or more stamps will receive a prize by at the end of the program. Completed booklets may be handed in at any participating site.

Sites participating in the 2015 KC's Passport to Adventure include: Anita B. Gorman Discovery Center, Burr Oak Woods Conservation Nature Center, Ernie Miller Nature Center, F.L. Schlagle Library and Environmental Learning Center, Fort Osage Historic Site, Historic Oxford Schoolhouse, Kansas City Community Gardens, Kemper Outdoor Education Center, Lakeside Nature Center, Legler Barn Museum, Mahaffie Stage Coach Stop and Farm, Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary, Missouri Town 1855, Powell Gardens, Prairie Park Nature Center in Lawrence, KS, Shawnee Town Museum 1929, Thomas Hart Benton Home State Historic Site and Trailside Center.
