In the last seven months the Animal Control Division has investigated 11 cases where coyotes have injured or killed small domestic animals. Although coyotes have been in the area for many years, the number of attacks seems to be escalating. In an effort to make the community more aware of coyotes and their behavior the Animal Control Division has created a link, coexisting with coyotes, which can be found on this web page. It is important to note that coyotes generally do not attack humans but attacks have occurred in other parts of the country, residents should also be aware that in some circumstances they will attack small animals. Please click on the following link COYOTES to learn how to protect yourself and your pets. Please contact the Animal Control Division if you have questions. (913) 642-5555 ext. 268
