Expires [Tuesday, June 19, 2012] PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE THROUGH June 19, 2012 CONTACT:April Bishop Cultural Arts Coordinator (913) 339-6700 ext. 157 EVENT: “Grinnin” & Groovin’ Concert -Dino O’Dell DATE:Tuesday, June 19, 2012 TIME: 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. LOCATION:Ironwoods Amphitheater in Ironwoods Park 147th & Mission Road, Leawood KS 66224 ENTRY FEE:Free LEAWOOD PRESENTS DINO O’DELL CONCERT The Leawood Arts Council, in conjunction with the Parks and Recreation Department, will provide “Grinnin’ & Groovin’” entertainment for the entire family each Tuesday in June. The event series will continue with a rockin’ concert by Dino O’Dell on June 19th. Dino O’Dell sings and plays in this celebration of cultures. His Jamaican reggae, English ska, German polka and American rock & roll, rap and country music will have kids dancing. Hear your favorite Dino O’Dell songs as well as selections from his new CD “Outer Space”. This interactive concert encourages kids to sing and motion with the lyrics featuring itty bitty monsters, space aliens, and a swimming pool filled with peanut butter. Dino is an award-winning musician/singer/songwriter who has performed with reggae, Dixieland, punk, folk and rock bands. He has worked as a professional actor on stage and TV. His music groups have opened for Angelique Kidjo, the great West African singer, and for Richard Thompson, the legendary British singer/songwriter that led Fairport Convention. He has appeared in Seattle's Bumbershoot Festival, Kansas City's SpiritFest and the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. He was a finalist in the Troubadour song writing competition and is a recipient of the Gold World Medal from the New York Festivals Association in Radio Programming. For fifteen years O’Dell has taught music, drama, language arts and improvisation at preschools, elementary schools, theater, churches and libraries. But kids are sure to think that Dino O’Dell is just plain fun. This outdoor show will be held at the Ironwoods Amphitheater in Ironwoods Park at 147th & Mission Road. The program will begin at 9:30 a.m. and last about one hour. In the event of rain the concert will be held in the Lodge at Ironwoods Park. Bring your entire family for fun-filled entertainment that will thrill children of all ages. Come and enjoy the entertainment, stay to visit the Historic Oxford Schoolhouse or the Prairie Oak Nature Center. The amphitheater has some concrete risers for seating but lawn chairs, blankets and sunscreen are recommended. There are no concessions available at the amphitheater but picnics are welcomed.
