American Roots Music Workshop at the Historic Oxford Schoolhouse
Expires [Saturday, April 10, 2010]
The Historic One-Room Oxford Schoolhouse, located in Ironwoods Park, 147th & Mission Road in Leawood, Kansas, will host two hands-on music workshops on Saturday, April 10th. Session I will be designed for children 4 to 7 years old and runs from 9:00 to 10:00 am. Session II will be for children 8 and older. The cost for each child is $5.00.
Each workshop will include a performance and presentation of traditional American Roots Rhythms by instructor Scott Klamm. Children will build and decorate their own percussion instrument. Each session will conclude with a performance by the group on their own new instruments.
Old-time musician Scott Klamm is no stranger to the Historic Oxford Schoolhouse. Scott has performed at many of the past events held at the schoolhouse. Scott plays traditional American instruments including mountain dulcimer, Appalachian mouth bow, auto harp, guitar and mandolin.
