GRINNIN’ & GROOVIN’ CULTURAL EVENTS FOR KIDS
The Leawood Arts Council, in conjunction with the Parks and Recreation Department, will provide “Grinnin’ & Groovin’” entertainment for the entire family each Tuesday, June 5 through June 26th. The event series continues with a concert by Jim “Mr. Stinky Feet” Cosgrove on Tuesday, June 12th.
Jim "Mr. Stinky Feet" Cosgrove has been rockin' Kansas City for nearly two decades with his high energy, interactive concerts. Jim’s philosophy is that children are the stars of his shows, not him. Come prepared to sing, dance, and have fun! Check out Jim’s music and videos at www.jimcosgrove.com.
Don’t miss this free show at Ironwoods Park on June 12th.
The event series will continue with fun and educational shows each Tuesday the lineup includes:
StoneLion Puppets have been a Grinnin’ & Groovin’ favorite for many summers in Leawood. Children will watch with anticipation to see what the puppets are up to in “Dragonfire” on June 19th.
The series wraps up on June 26th with juggler Brian Wendling.
Each program will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will last a maximum of one hour. Bring your entire family for fun-filled entertainment that will thrill children of all ages. Performances will be held outdoors in the Ironwoods Amphitheater or in the case of rain, extreme heat, or by the needs of the performers (such as StoneLion Puppets) events will move inside the Lodge at Ironwoods Park. The Lodge offers floor and chair seating.
The amphitheater has some concrete risers for seating but lawn chairs, blankets and sunscreen are recommended. There are no concessions available at Ironwoods Park but picnics are welcomed. Dogs must be on a leash.
Come to Ironwoods Park to enjoy the entertainment and stay to visit the Historic Oxford Schoolhouse or the Prairie Oak Nature Center.
