APRIL

17      The Leawood Woman’s Club will host all Current and Former elected officials at a social in the Oak Room at City Hall from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Hear David Basse perform a new song about Leawood with The Leawood Singers. Light refreshments will be served. For more information contact Alice Hawk $- By invitation only

 

18      The Lodge at Ironwoods Park will be the scene for the 3rd annual Mom and Son Sports Night. This event is for boys 5-11 and their mothers. Games, Food, Costume Contest, Prizes and more. For more information contact Lindsay Youle at 339-6700, extension 158.     

         $- 45 Resident/$50 – Non Resident Pre-registration required.

 

25      Deadline for Leawood's annual poster Contest for children K-12. You do not have to be a Leawood Resident to enter. Please review this PDF for more information. $ - FREE

 

MAY

1       Join in the fun at the Oxford School with an “End of the School Year Party” and open house from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. First 100 participants will receive a commemorative “60th Anniversary momento”. $ - Free

 

JUNE

          Get back in the Swing! IRONHORSE Golf Course to hold grand reopening event. Dates and activities to be announced.

 

7        Get out and get going!  The Parks and Recreation Department will host National Trails Day.  First 100 participants receive a 60th Anniversary Pedometer/Radio.  Meet at Shelters C/D in City Park. 9:00 a.m. Walk to Watts Mill (refreshments) via the Indian Creek Trail and back.  $- Free

 

8        The Leawood Lions will rededicate the Lion’s Shelter and Lion’s Fountain in Leawood City Park from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Lion’s will provide ice cream to all who come to help celebrate this important civic event. $- Free

 

21      Leawood Chamber’s 10th Annual “Taste of Leawood”- Leawood City Hall Courtyard, 7:00 p.m. Casual evening of culinary splendor under the stars. Music provided by the Souled Out Band. JULY

4        July 4th Celebration. Games, Rides, Food, and Fireworks! 5:00 – 10:00 p.m. Bigger fireworks display. Music by “Liverpool”  $- Free general admission. All access to rides wrist band for kids 14 & Under, $5.

 

          Volunteer Appreciation Day. Leawood City Hall. Barbeque and ride to 4th of July Celebration.  Details to be announced.   $ - Invitation for all volunteers and committee members.

 

19      Leawood Stage Company Annual Production Gala. 5:30-7:45at the Lodge at Ironwoods Park, 147th and Mission Road. Enjoy dinner and spirits prior to the production of “Annie Get Your Gun”. Curtain at 8:00  $-  $50 per person for Gala. Show - Free

 

AUGUST

17      It’s a “Party in the Park”- Ironwoods Park!  Celebrate all that Ironwoods Park has to offer:  Activities in the Nature Center; Cabin Tours; Scavenger Hunts on the Trail; Art Show with demonstrations; Music performances in the Lodge; Crafts and Music at the Oxford School;  Open Climb at the Carolina T-Wall Challenge Course.  $- Free

 

27      It’s the annual Police and Fire Open House. 96th and Lee Boulevard.  Free hot dogs and lots of fun. Tour the jail. See inside police and fire vehicles and learn about the duty of a police dog.  $- Free

 

SEPTEMBER

2        Party in the Pool with your Pooch!  All participating dogs receive a free 60th anniversary bandana. Treats and pictures.  $- $3 per dog resident, $4 per dog non-resident.

 

OCTOBER

17      See what the Leawood Lion’s are cooking up this year at the annual

18      Lion’s Club Pancake Days. (More information to follow).
