Classes at the Prairie Oak Nature Center
Located in Ironwoods Park - 14701 Mission Road
Learn to Fish - Ages 5 years and up
This beginning level fishing class will teach children about the basics of fishing. The first 45 minutes will be indoors and the remainder of the class will be at Ironwoods Lake. Topics will include bait, tackle, types of fish and techniques. Equipment and bait will be provided, although you are welcome to bring your own. An adult MUST accompany any child under the age of 12 (no registration fee will be charged for one adult chaperone per child, each additional adult will need to register). One - 2 our session

Reptile Rendezvous - Ages 6 to 10 years
The snakes and turtles of the Prairie Oak Nature Center are inviting children to attend the second annual "Reptile Rendezvous." This class offers a safe, fun introduction to a variety of reptiles. Several snakes from the nature center will make an appearance including "Bob" the bullsnake. It's his birthday and he wants to party! There will be games, a craft, hick and refreshments. One - 3 hour session

Our Friends the Honeybees - Ages 5 to 8 years
Bees are busy and very beneficial to nature. Your child will enjoy exploring the busy and exciting live of the honey bee from pollination and communication to honey production. A hands-on demonstration of a variety of honey products, the bee dance game and a honey bee related craft are included. One 2 - hour session

Backyard Wildlife - Ages 5 to 8 years
Is your child interested in the animals that pass through your backyard? Children will learn about living in harmony with the many different kinds of animals that live in their backyard such as raccoons, opossum, deer, fox, coyotes, birds and many more. A hike and related craft are included. One - 2 hour session
