Balloon Tree Camp - Ages 5 to 8 Years
This camp is for children going into Kindergarten - 2nd grade and involves a daily regimine of swim lessons (taught by the Leawood Aquatic Center Staff) and activity stations including, cooperative games, arts and crafts, creative sing-along songs, nature exploration and recreational play. Weekly educational visits from the Leawood Fire and Police Departments are also included. One - 2 week camp.

Location: Lions Shelter

 

Art in the Park Camp - Ages 8 to 11 Years
Love to get creative? This outdoor camp is for children entering the 3rd - 6th grade who want to explore the world of art in a fun and exciting way. Young artists work with paints, chalk, paper and clay, (and that's just the beginning) and go on a field trip to an "artistic location" each session. Daily swim instruction is also included with this camp. One - 2 week camp.

Super Sports Camp - Ages 8 to 11 Years
Can’t get enough of sports? This camp is for the sports fanatic. Children in the 3rd-6th grade will spend two weeks learning and participating in recreational sports and games. Daily instruction and playing of different sports include basketball, volleyball, tennis, baseball, soccer, and more! Daily swim instruction is also included with this camp. One Friday field trip will take campers to a local sporting venue. One - 2 week camp.

Outdoor Camp

Camp meets at the Leawood Community Center

Leawood's full day camp Outdoor Camp for campers ages 9-12. This camp is for kids seeking a unique full-day adventure in an outdoor setting. The campers will start off in the Maple Room of Leawood City Hall, spend the day outdoors in Leawood's parks and return to the Maple Room for parent pickup. Campers will enjoy activities such as hiking, fishing, canoeing, basketball, soccer, arts and crafts, and daily trips to the pool for "free swim". Participants should bring a towel, sunscreen, water bottle and lunch each day. Weekly field trips will take campers to fun and exciting locations. Past trips have included: Royals Stadium, Sporting Park, Kansas City Zoo, Science City, Supersplash Waterpark and Leawood's Challenge Course featuring the 50 foot rock climbing wall!

Getting too old to hang out with your little brother or sister? Want to hang out with friends while doing some of the coolest things in Kansas City? Then Camp KC is a great way to spend the summer. Camp KC is designed specifically for kids to cure those summer blues with games, community service, and field trips. If your child is beTWEEN the ages of 9 and 12, then remember to sign up for one or all of the different one-week camps throughout the summer. Camp meets Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm with different activities planned each day.

Camp meets at the Prairie Oak Nature Center in Ironwoods Park

We invite your child to this fun-filled, educational, nature camp. There will be many hands-on activities, educational games and take-home nature themed crafts your child will enjoy. Some of this week's outdoor activities will include hiking, fishing, bug hunting and exploring the habitats of Ironwoods Park. Indoor nature education will be provided by staff and visiting nature experts. One weekly field trip will take the campers to an exciting nature destination outside of the park.

This camp is all about F.U.N. - Fishing, Understanding Wildlife and Nature Games
Your child will spend three days learning fishing at an intermediate level, including fishing with many types of bait and tackle. They will learn to tie their own knots, bait a hook, remove their own fish from the hook and place back in the water. A fishing derby with prizes and field trip will conclude the fishing portion of camp. Campers will also gain a better Understanding of Wildlife through learning about plants, animals and participating in making an indoor habitat for a live animal that they catch such as a frog, insect or another animal. A variety of fun and educational Nature Games and crafts complete this awesome camp. Each camper must bring a sack lunch each day.

Are your kids looking for some new challenges? Then Ironwoods Challenge Course's Challenge Adventure Camp should be your choice this summer! Experience the Carolina T-Wall, Alpine Tower, Giant Swing, and for the 12-14 yr olds, the world's only Caribbean Course. We offer a balance of climbing activities (knots, belaying, commands, and technique), teambuilding challenges, survival skills, some new fun games to play with friends, some brain teasers, and above all just plain fun!

For returning campers ages 12-14 more advanced climbing techniques will be introduced.

Are you ready for an adventure?

Participants will receive group and individual instruction on a variety of skill and techniques ranging from basic to advanced. The skills and techniques learned will provide riders from a range of age, skill and experience a solid foundation to continue to improve as a rider. Participants will ride mixed terrain from singletrack, grass and pavement. In addition, participants will learn basic bike setup and maintenance through hands-on experience and instruction. (Five - 2.5 hour sessions

Participants will need to bring the following:

Mad Science Camps

Explore your insides and learn how year heard is actually a pump, how your organs work as a team and make your own model lungs.  Please bring a sack lunch.  One - 7 hour session.

My First Science Lab - Ages 4 to 6 Years
This camp offers young children ages 4-6 an exciting introduction to basic environmental science.  Each session is devoted to different aspects of the Outdoors, allowing children to progressively enrich their understanding of how living things grow and how they interact wiht the environment around them.  During the course of each 2 1/2 hour session , children will perform hands-on experiments, play themed game and enjoy a snack and story related to the theme for that day.  A mural will grow through the course of the program as children illustrate their latest discoveries at the close of each session.  Each child is to receive their very own lab coat and goggles.  Five - 2.5 hour sessions

Crazy Chemistry - Ages 6 to 12 Years
Investigate chemical reactions happening all around us every day in the kitchen, the laundry, the garden and event the walls!  Young scientists will build crystals, make sidewalk chalk, bath fizzers and a chromatograph t-shirt.  Investigate water absorbing chemicals and use chemical reactions to make ice cream!  Please bring a sack lunch.  One - 7 hour session.

Students discover the secrets of light!  Break light in to its parts and put them back together.  Learn about waves and colors, explore reflection, refraction and diffraction.  Make your own multi-colored sun catchers using only three primary colors and patterns that deceive the eye.  Please bring a sack lunch.  One - 7 hour session.

KC Legends Soccer Camp

Monday-Friday; June 3-7

The camp will be run by highly trained Legends coaches, most of whom will have professional playing experience. Participants will refine their one touch shooting skills and learn the fakes and moves that are hallmarks of the Legends curriculum. They will play small sided games inlcluding a mini tournament and fun games such as Wembley and World Cup. Each child will improve their 1vs1 and 2vs2 attacking and defending skills. The importance of having fun and sportsmanship will also be stressed during the week long camp.

Each child will receive a Legends shirt

Please bring a soccer ball, shin guards, water bottle, and sun screen each day.

Challenger Soccer Camp

British Soccer Camps provide players of all ages and abilities with the rare opportunity to receive high-level soccer coaching from a team of international experts. Each day includes individual foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games, coached scrimmages, and a daily tournament. Equally important, the Challenger coaching staff provides your child with lessons in respect, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship and leadership.

Each camper will receive a free camp t-shirt and soccer ball.

Please bring a water bottle and shin guards to camp each day.
