Batman Mechanics with LEGO®

Ages 5-7 years

Explore the technology of Batman through LEGO®.  Wayne Enterprises is looking for a new research and development team.  Design the mechanics behind cool vehicles like the Batmobile, the Batcopter and the Batcycle.  Create the Batman's secret hideout, the Batcave. Help invent new technologies to fight crime.  Designed for students with an interest in engineering and how things work and for young innovators who have a passion to create new gadgets and contraptions.  Five - 3 hour classes

Batman Master Mechanics with LEGO®

Ages 7-12 years

Defeat Gotham's villains by designing and building Batman's most advanced crime-fighting machines! Infiltrate Arkham Asylum, build a Bat Cycle and fly your Batcopter.  Then use your projects to thwart the Joker's plans to take over the city.  Be the super-hero or the super-heroine Gotham needs.  Find engineering solutions through the use of STEM concepts!  Five - 3 hour classes

Intro to STEM with LEGO®

Ages 5-7 years

Tap into your imagination with tens of thousands of LEGO®.  Build engineer-designed projects such as Boats, Snowmobiles, Catapults and Merry-Go-Rounds.  Then use special pieces to create your own unique design!  New and returning students can explore the endless creative possibilities of the LEGO® building system with the guidance of an experienced Play-Well instructor.  There is no prerequisite for this course.  Five - 3 hour classes

STEM Challenge with LEGO®

Ages 7-12 years

Power on your engineering skills with Play-Well TEKnologies and tens of thousands of LEGO®!  Apply real world concepts in physics, engineering and architecture through engineer-designed projects such as Catapults, Pneumatic Cranes, Arch Bridges and Battle tracks!  Design and build as never before, and explore your craziest ideas in a supportive environment.  An experienced instructor will challenge new and returning students to engineer at the next level.  There is no prerequisite for this course.  Five - 3 hour classes

Slimy Chemistry

Age 6 -12 years

Make a lemon battery, electroplate a penny and conduct electrochemistry with goldenrod paper.  Clean up your own gems with soap and exploding toothpaste.  Then get dirty again with slime! Please bring a sack lunch.  One - 7 hour class

Half-Day Camps at City Park

Balloon Tree Camp

Age 5-8 years

This camp is for children going into Kindergarten-2nd grade and involves a daily regimen of swim lessons (taught by the Leawood Aquatic Center Staff) and activity stations including; cooperative games, arts and crafts, creative sing-along songs and recreational play.  Occasional educational visits form the Leawood Fire and Police Departments are also included.  One - 2 week camp, three sessions to choose from.  Camp meets at the Lions Shelter.

 

Creative Creations Camp

Age 8-11 years

Love to get creative?  This outdoor camp is for children entering the 3rd-6th grade who want to explore the world of art in a fun and exciting way.  Young artists work with paints, chalk, paper and clay (and that's just the beginning) and go on a field trip to an "artistic location" each session.  Daily swim instruction is also included with this camp.  One - 2 week camp, three sessions to choose from. Camp meets at the Leawood Aquatic Center Concession Deck.

 

Super Sports Camp

Ages 8-11 years

Can't get enough of sports?  This camp is for the sports fanatic.  Children in the 3rd-6th grade will spend two weeks participating in recreational sports and games.  Daily playing of different sports include basketball, volleyball, tennis, baseball, soccer and more!  Daily swim instruction is also included with this camp.  One Friday field trip will take campers to a sport themed venue.  Daily activities depend on camp enrollment.  One - 2 week camp, three sessions to choose from.  Camp meets at the Basketball Courts.

Outdoor Camp

Ages 9-12 years

Leawood's full day Outdoor Camp is for kids aged 9-12 years.  This camp features a unique full-day adventure in an outdoor setting.  The campers will start off in Leawood City Hall, spend the day outdoors in Leawood's parks or other fun locations around town and return to City Hall for parent pick-up.  Campers will enjoy activities such as hiking, basketball, soccer, arts and crafts, daily trips to the pool for "free swim".  Weekly field trips will take campers to fun and exciting locations.  Possible trips include: Worlds of Fun, Oceans of Fun, Powerplay, Schlitterbahn, Sky Zone, Ironwoods Challenge Course.  Five - 7 hour sessions.

Challenge Adventure Camp

Experience the Caroina T-Wall, Alpine Tower, Giant Swing and for the 12-14 year olds, the world's only Caribbean Course!

We offer a balance of climbing activities (knots, belaying, commands and technique), teambuilding challenges, survival skills, some new fun games to play with friends, some brain teasers and above all, just plain fun! For returning campers ages 12-14, more advanced climbing techniques will be introduced.  Five - 4 hour sessions.

iGame Creators

Ages 6-10 years

iMobile Game Design

Ages 6-12 years

Sketch, build, play.  Do you like to play games on a mobile device?  This class offers students with a big imagination a place for them to sketch and build their own video games on a mobile device. This course helps students build games and makes building on a mobile platform a reality.  This cutting edge course engages both sides of the brain to crate fun, engaging games for a mobile platform. Four - 3 hour classes.
