Challenge Programs

While risk is one of the key elements in adventure activity, our Challenge Course is always focused on safety. Knowledge of the activity, careful planning, and good judgement are excercised by our well trained facilitators. Participants commitment to listening to instructions and being mindful of safety during the program is important for a safe program as well.

Our structures are inspected monthly and a yearly inspection is conducted by a professional who is certified by the ACCT (Association for Challenge Course Technology).

Ironwoods Challenge Course Components

High Challenge Course:
Composed of three structures; the Alpine Tower,
the Carolina T-wall, and the Caribbean Course. Each structure is 50 feet tall and utilizes a belay system for safety. They are all unique and offer different opportunities to experience excitement, build teamwork, and increase confidence. The Alpine Tower is conducive to team work, while the Wall and Caribbean are more focused on individual challenges aided by group support.

Carolina T-Wall

Rock Wall -
Standing 50-feet tall and with over 12 routes ranging from beginner to expert, come experience one of the tallest climbing structures in the Midwest. Your group will be belayed by our trained and professional staff as you summit the wall.

Alpine TowerAlpine Tower -
50-foot tall triangular structure that can accommodate up to six climbers at one time. The tower is made of an assortment of utility poles, rock-climbing holds, swinging logs, rope ladders, nets, a high-flying teeter totter, balance beams and more. Experience a new level of challenge with the Alpine Tower.

Caribbean Course -Caribbean Course
Comprised of three tree-house structures, your group will have the opportunity to traverse between each structure via three-high-flying initiatives. Your group will be offered two-ways down; the 35-foot Giant Swing or a more subdued climb down the cargo net - the challenge is yours.

Giant Swing -
This exciting activity can be added to most programs. Participants will have the opportunity to ascend the 35-foot platform, where our facilitators will secure them onto a series of rope and cable attachments, preparing them for a thrilling swing ride!

Low Challenge Course:
Composed of games, initiatives and challenges all done on or close to the ground. Some challenges utilize structures and/or props. Low Course can be designed to be non-physical, low impact or medium to highly physical.

Programs

Tower Adventure - ½ to full day
Find excitement and physical challenge climbing the structure of your choice while our facilitators do the belaying. Time will depend on the number of participants in the group and elements you would like to incorporate.

Total Climb - ½ to full day
Northface ClimberA short amount of time is spent with introduction activities to get the group members acquainted then we move into Ground School where participants will learn how to use the gear involved in a belay system and how to tie proper knots. After successful practice of the belay, climbing will begin. There are opportunities for solo, partner, and group climbs as well as specific challenges during climbs. The variety of climbing options is large and we can continuously challenge your group throughout the day as well as multiple days on the course.

TeamWORKS! - ½ to full day
TeamworkThe Low Challenge Course begins with name games and energizers. These activities help the group members get acquainted and "break the ice." We then move through a series of initiatives and trust activities where the group will be working together building skills that will be used during the challenge elements. The rest of the day is spent moving through a sequence of challenges, each increasing in difficulty. These challenges take place on or close to the ground. A series of our low challenges are portable if you would like the experience to travel to your site!

Full Challenge - full dayCard LIneup
The Full Challenge combines a morning of Teaming Up activities with an afternoon of the Total Climb program. This is truly the best of both worlds! Participants have the opportunity to build unity and team skills with the group as well as spend time developing confidence and attaining personal goals.
