Swim & Dive Lessons

2 Week Sessions • Monday - Thursday • (Eight 30 minute lessons)
Fee: $45 / Resident Discounted Fee: $40
(no refunds will be given due to inclement weather)

All classes will be held at the Leawood Aquatic Center

Registration Deadline - Thursday, 5:00pm prior to the start of the new session

Swim Lessons

 

Swim Lessons

Parent - Tot Swim Lessons - Six months - 2 years
Parent/Caregiver is in the water with their child 6months - 18months of age. The class will teach orientation to the water, comfort, and teaches parents safety and drowning prevention. The class does not teach children how to swim or survive in the water. Water diapers are required for all tots. 1:12 Ratio

Pre-school Level 1 - Ages 2-3 years
This class is designed to help children who are apprehensive or new to the aquatics environment. The child will learn safe pool behavior. 1:6 Ratio

Pre-school Level 2 - Ages 2-3 years
Designed for a child who is independently able to put head under water and blow bubbles. The child will continue to learn safe pool behavior. 1:6 Ratio

Tadpole - Ages 4 years and up
Must be at least 4 years of age. No skill level is required. Parents are not in the water with the students. They will learn safe pool behavior and a positive attitude as well as putting their head in the water and blowing bubbles and floating with assistance from an instructor.

Goldfish - Ages 4 years and up
Must be at least 4 years of age. Must be able to put face in the water and blow bubbles unassisted. Must be comfortable floating on front, back, and side with assistance and ready to try unassisted. Will learn how to float and recover to vertical. 1:6 Ratio

Seahorse - Ages 4 years and up
Must be at least 4 years of age. Must float comfortably on front and back without assistance. Combine arm and leg action. Push off and swim at least 15 feet using combined arms and legs unassisted. Will work on stroke technique to be able to accomplish 25 yards of swimming by the end of the lesson. 1:6 Ratio

Seal - Ages 4 years and up
Must be at least 4 years of age.  The student will be able to swim 25 yards (1 length) in freestyle using side breathing and swim backstroke for 25 yards. Must be willing to try to dive head first from the side of the pool. 1:6 Ratio.

Marlin - Ages 4 years and up
Must be at least 4 years of age.  The student will be able to perform a standing dive from the side, swim breaststroke for 25 yards with so scissors kick, side stroke for 20 yards, elementary back stroke, front crawl with rhythmic breathing for 50 yards and tread water for 1 minute.
1:8 Ratio

Dolphin - Ages 4 years and up
Must be at least 4 years of age.  The student will be able to swim breaststroke for 50 yards, crawl stroke for 100 yards, butterfly for 10 yards, and do breaststroke open turn and crawl stroke flip turns. 1:8 Ratio.

Dive Lessons

Ages 6-18 years
Come learn the basics of diving at the Leawood Aquatic Center. Instructors will work with beginning and advanced students who want to learn new things and perfect their skills.
Four - 1 hour sessions.

Session 1 June 5 - 8 11:30am-12:30pm, 12:30-1:30pm
Session 2 June12 - 15 11:30am-12:30pm, 12:30-1:30pm
