The
City of Leawood Police Recruitment Unit
The
City of Leawood has a rich history of more than 50 years. During that time, the Police
Department has been a mainstay in keeping the City of Leawood a very livable
community. With 63 commissioned officers and 22 support personnel, the Leawood Police
Department is essential in keeping the City of Leawood the "livable community"
it is today.
The basic requirements to be a Leawood police officer are:
- You must be 21 years of age
- a United States citizen
- have a high school diploma or equivalent
- and have a valid driver's license
- complete an extensive background check
- complete a certified police academy and department field training program
The Police Department is continuing it's open recruitment program in 2008. The written test, the first step in the hiring process, will be administered at the following times:
- Saturday, April 19th at 10 a.m.
- Friday, May 2nd at 6 p.m.
- Saturday, May 17th at 10 a.m.
- Friday, June 6th at 6 p.m.
- Saturday, June 21st at 10 a.m.
This timed test begins promptly at the time listed and late arrivals will not be able to test. The test will be given at the Leawood Police Department, 9617 Lee Blvd. Based on the results of this test, any additional testing will be scheduled at a later date.
A city application must be submitted prior to testing. The application is available through the link below, at the police department or at Leawood City Hall, 4800 Town Center Drive in Leawood. Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience. City residency is not required. The salary range for the four levels of Police Officer is $36,150 to $69,139.
