Cantilena String Quartet Concert Sunday, February 14 at 2:00 p.m. at the Leawood Community Center (Oak Room, 4800 Town Center Drive, Leawood, KS 66211).

"Guys & Dolls" Auditions for the Leawood Stage Company Saturday, March 6 and Sunday, March 7 from 1:00-6:00 p.m. each day at Leawood City Hall (Oak Room, 4800 Town Center Dr., Leawood, KS 66211).

Leawood Stage Company to Present "Guys & Dolls" The Leawood Stage Company will hold auditions for performers from age 7 to 77 for Guys & Dolls on Saturday, March 6th and Sunday, March 7th from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Oak Room of Leawood City Hall. We encourage performers with all types of backgrounds of ethnicity and experience to audition.

The classic musical will be presented July 15-19 and July 22-24 at 8:00 p.m. at the Ironwoods Amphitheater in Ironwoods Park, 147th and Mission Road.

Spring Tomahawk Trail Clean-Up Sunday, March 28 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. (please call for exact starting time) at Tomahawk Park (119th & Mission Rd., south of 119th, west of Mission Rd.).

The City of Leawood Police Recruitment Unit

The City of Leawood has a rich history of more than 50 years. During that time, the Police Department has been a mainstay in keeping the City of Leawood a very livable community. With 61 commissioned officers and 22 support personnel, the Leawood Police Department is essential in keeping the City of Leawood the "livable community" it is today.

 

 

The basic requirements to be a Leawood police officer are:

  • You must be 21 years of age
  • a United States citizen
  • have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • and have a valid driver's license
  • complete an extensive background check
  • pass a physical assessment, psychological assessment and a drug screening
  • complete a certified police academy and department field training program

The Police Department conducts an open recruitment program throughout the year, to maintain an eligibility list of applicants. The written test, the first step in the hiring process, is scheduled to be administered at the following times:

  • Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at 6 p.m.,
  • Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, at 10 a.m.
  • Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 3, 2010, at 10 a.m.
  • Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at 6 p.m.

The timed test begins promptly at the time listed and late arrivals will not be able to test. The test will be given at the Leawood Police Department, 9617 Lee Blvd. To register for a testing session, please call (913)642-5555, ext. 212 or e-mail professionalstandards@leawood.org at least 24 hours in advance. Those who pass the written test are added to the eligibility list from which applicants are drawn to participate in the second phase of the hiring process, an oral interview board, when an open position becomes available.

A city application must be submitted prior to testing. The application is available through the link below, at the police department or at Leawood City Hall, 4800 Town Center Drive in Leawood. Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience. City residency is not required. The salary range for the four levels of Police Officer is $36,150 to $69,139.
