The Facilities Maintenance department is made up of One Maintenance Supervisor, four full time Maintenance Technicians, and the Fleet/Facilities Manager. Facilities hours of operation are Mon.-Fri. 7:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. with a 24 hour on call technician 365 days a year.

The Facilities Division offers services to city departments in the following areas: facilities planning and design, project management, facilities operations and maintenance which includes construction, plumbing, electrical, structural, environmental and related systems. We are responsible for all buildings owned by the City.

The Facility Division responsibilities include general repairs, preventative maintenance, identification of deficiencies, consultation on construction projects, and monitoring outside contractors.

Facilities maintain a Class B Johnson County Contractors License.

The Facilities Division is also responsible for administering and managing all city renovations, alterations, and assisting with new construction on the city's 38 buildings totaling over 220,000 square feet. This is accomplished through the use of a skilled crew of building maintenance technicians that can perform trades in a variety of disciplines including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and mechanical. When necessary, outside contractors and trades people are utilized for projects.

Typical Facilities Operations include but are not limited to:

  • Building maintenance and operations
  • Space planning assistance
  • Facility design coordination and management
  • Facility capital project and construction management
  • Coordination of energy conservation and retrofit programs
  • Preparation of Bids and Specifications for Capital and Routine projects.
  • Oversight of contracts for Janitorial, Roof Management, Generator maintenance, Holiday lighting and other routine services.
  • Backflow device maintenance and reporting for City Facilities.
  • Planning for future Capital and Routine projects.
  • Safety of the Public and Employees.
