“Women of the World” Art Dedication

The Art in Public Places Initiative of the Leawood Arts Council is proud to announce the dedication of two sculptures by internationally renowned artists with local ties. These pieces are the 23rd and 24th three-dimensional works in Leawood’s Public Art Collection.

Please join us for the dedicated of Women of the World by Kwan Wu on Friday, April 23rd  at 4:00pm at the Leawood Justice Center, 4205 Town Center Dr, Leawood, KS 66211.

Inspiration by Rita Blitt will be dedication on Friday, September 10th at 4:00pm at the installation site located on the southeast corner of Tomahawk Creek Parkway and College Boulevard, Leawood, KS 66211.

Earth Day & Arbor Day Celebrations

Friday, April 23 - Ironwoods Park

Thursday, April 22nd is Earth Day and Friday the 23rd is Arbor Day!  Help us celebrate both events on Friday, April 23rd from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm at the Prairie Oak Nature Center in Ironwoods Park (look for the building with the large squirrel on top)! 

Family friendly activities will be available, with an emphasis on the “Five R’s — Reducing, Reusing, Repurposing, Recycling, and Rotting”, as well as celebrating and encouraging the sustainability of our Wildlife Pollinators, and Green Energy Practices.

We will again have “starter” trees available beginning the 23rd, free to any family wishing to plant them at home.  These are available until the supply is exhausted.

The Nature Center is committed to educating all visitors about our environment and will continue to be a resource for the citizens of Leawood and the surrounding communities.

2021 Aquatic Center Season Passes

The Leawood Aquatic Center offers individual pool passes to all patrons ages 12 months and up.
Children under 12 months are FREE.
Senior rates will apply to individuals 60+ years.

Pool Passes are available for purchase and only available to Leawood Residents this season

Please purchase your pool pass no later than 8:00am on the day you wish to visit the pool

All pool passes purchased prior to Monday, May 24 will be mailed to your home.
All pool passes purchased after May 24 will be available for pick up at the Aquatic Center starting May 29 at noon.

Each member of our family will need an individual pool pass for the summer.  Your individual pool pass is a scannable ID fob and requires a photo that is updated yearly.

Photos can be taken at the Leawood Aquatic Center.  Keychain wristbands are available for $2.  A replacement ID key fob is $5.

Pool passes are non-transferrable.  A guest attempting to use a pass that is not assigned to them will result in the forfeiture of the season pool pass without a refund.

Three sessions to choose from!

Stop by City Hall and give Santa your wish list! On Saturday, December 5, we will be hosting our first ever Sidewalk Santa event at Leawood City Hall. This will be a drive-through event and all participants will remain in their vehicles. Each participant will receive a letter template to complete to give to Santa along with a ticket to redeem for a goody bag with a craft and treats.

Fee: $7 / Leawood Resident Discounted Fee: $5

Registration deadline is Monday, November 23.

Christmas Tree drop off rules:

  • Trees must be free of all decorations, lights and stands
  • Christmas trees only – no leaves, grass clippings or other yard waste
  • Please remove trees from plastic bags and discard bags in trash

Tree drop off is available in the following locations:

Leawood City Park, parking lot south of the Aquatic Center

Tomahawk Park, parking lot west of the soccer fields in the northeast quadrant of 119th Street & Tomahawk Creek Parkway

Ironwoods Park, north parking lot, east of the playground area

Puzzle Palooza

Did you become a master at puzzles during quarantine?  Gather your team of 2-4 people to show off your skills at Puzzle Palooza!  Teams will race against each other to complete a custom made 500 piece jigsaw puzzle, plus you get to take home the puzzle!  Cash prizes will be awarded to the first and second teams to complete their puzzle.  Hurry, event is limited to the first 20 teams that register!
