2019 July 4th Celebration

Featuring Live Music by The Mikey Needleman Band

Leawood City Park will be the site for a variety of new and traditional family festivities.  Enjoy some great entertainment, participate in contests / games and enjoy a variety of food vendors.  Parking will not be available in City Park.  There will be free parking along Tomahawk Creek Parkway and free shuttle buses will be available for transportation to and from City Park.  Handicap parking will be available in the park with the display of Handicap Accessible tags or placards

FREE Gneral Admission
All access Ride Activity Bands (for children 14 and under) – $5.00 Cash only

City Park will be closed to all vehicles on Thursday, July 4. For information on how to get to the park, please see the sections below.

Park and take the shuttle bus

Free shuttle buses will be running from the parking lots along the west side of Tomahawk Creek Parkway to City Park starting at 10:00am.

Handicap parking will be available in City Park.  Must have license plate or placard for admission into the park.

Look for the July 4th parking signs along Tomahawk Creek Parkway

Three shuttle stops will be located in the parking lots of businesses on Tomahawk Creek Parkway

  • Merrill-Lynch – 3401 College Boulevard
  • Frontier Investment Banking (west side) – 11350 Tomahawk Creek Parkway
  • American Academy of Family Physicians – 11400 Tomahawk Creek Parkway

Park and walk

Are you considering walking to the park?

Grab your walking shoes, flashlight, wagon and go!

Park in one of the parking lots along Tomahawk Creek Parkway and walk to skip the shuttle line at the end of the night! We will have solar lighting guiding you along the trail to College Boulevard.  Be sure to bring a flashlight for a little extra lighting as you walk along the trail to your vehicle.  Reflective signage will point the way!

2019 Swim & Dive Team Registration Schedule
Monday April 1 Leawood Residents Only
Monday April 8 Non-Residents (Past Participants)
Wednesday April 10 Non-Residents (New Participants)

Participants may choose to register online, or come to Leawood City Hall (4800 Town Center Drive). Designated days and times will still apply for residents and non-residents.  Click here to register online

Online registration information:
*All participants wishing to register online MUST call the Parks & Recreation Department at (913) 663-9154 to retrieve your Username and Password (if you have not done so already) PRIOR to March 29th. You will need this information in order to register online.

All Swim & Dive Team participants must be six years old by June 1, 2019. All Competitive Swim Team participants must be able to swim 50 meters unassisted and without stopping to rest. All Pre Competitive Swim Team Participants must be able to swim 25 yards unassisted and without stopping to rest. Please be certain your child is comfortable in the water and can accomplish the required skills. The 50 yards should be completed “with ease”.

Swim Team
Swim practice begins on Tuesday, May 28 and meets will start the week of June 3. Practices are 7:30 – 8:45am (10 & older), 8:45 – 10:00am ( 8 & 9 years) or 10:15-11:15am ( 9 & Under/pre competitive) Monday through Friday. Meets are held on Thursday evenings, and some of the younger swimmers may be placed on the Pre Competitive team which will participate in Saturday morning meets.
Cost: Resident $145 / Non-Resident $160
Max: 200

Dive Team 
Dive practice begins on Tuesday, May 28 and meets will start the week of June 10. Practices are 8:45 – 10:00am or 10:15-11:30am Monday through Friday. Meets are held on Tuesday evenings.
Cost: Resident $145 / Non-Resident $160
Max: 60
