Fire Department - CPR / AED / First Aid Training
The Leawood Fire Department offers several different types of training for CPR / AED and First Aid.
As part of the Heart of America Metro Fire Chief's Heartsafe Community initiative (www.hoaheartsafe.org) as well as the Johnson County Heartsafe Community initiative (www.jocoheartsafe.org), we offer hands-only CPR training. This training can be taught very quickly to virtually any size group at any location. A typical class lasts only twenty minutes. This training is designed to increase the occurrences of bystander CPR to improve cardiac arrest save rates by getting basic CPR & AED training to as many people as possible. No other areas are covered such as choking or first aid. We can also train you to be a trainer for this initiative. No certification card is issued with this training. For more information or to schedule a class, please contact Training Chief Colin Fitzgerald at (913) 266-0606 or email email@example.com.
The Leawood Fire Department also offers more traditional CPR / AED and First Aid training. These are certified classes through the American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI). These classes generate a certification card which is good for two years. There are two ways to receive this training. For individuals or small groups, we offer pre-scheduled classes described below. If you have a bigger group, then we can often custom schedule a class or classes to accommodate your needs based on our mutual schedules. Contact Training Chief Colin Fitzgerald at (913) 266-0606 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
The Leawood Fire Department offers pre-scheduled CPR / AED / First Aid classes on the first Saturday of every month. If the first Saturday is a holiday, then the class will fall back to the second Saturday. Each class typically lasts approximately four hours. Please note that these classes are limited to 18 people each and are first come, first serve. These classes are held at Leawood Fire Station #3 at 14801 Mission Rd. They are open to City of Leawood residents and organizations only and there is no fee. To enroll in one of these classes, please select the pre-scheduled date you wish to attend and complete all applicable fields in the contact form. Note, if you can select a date, then that class is not yet full. You will receive a confirmation email once your enrollment has been processed.
