Oxford School Hosts American Girl Doll School Day Events

The Historic One-Room Oxford Schoolhouse, located in Ironwoods Park at 147th & Mission Road, Leawood Kansas, will hold 2 American Girl Doll School Day events, Saturdays, May 2nd and August 15th from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. During each event a costumed turn-of-the-century schoolteacher will teach the children about the time period and background of each featured American Girl and read a story from a book about the doll. The selected story highlights a lesson learned by each girl.

In addition to the reading, each session will include historic games, crafts or activities related to the reading or time period.

The two featured American Girls this year will be Felicity on May 2nd and Kaya on August 15th.

The cost is $5.00 per session, per child. Reservations are not necessary for individuals but please call 913-663-9157 to schedule a group of 4 or more. Children may bring their dolls.

The Historic Oxford Schoolhouse is also available for programs year-round to groups of all ages any day or time by appointment. Special events and workshops are offered throughout the year.

Come by the schoolhouse to pick up the Historic Oxford Schoolhouse 2015 Events Calendar or the Interpretive Site Coalition’s Kansas City’s Passport to Adventure.
