Leawood Stage Company Performs “Oliver!”

The Leawood Parks and Recreation Department, in cooperation with the Leawood Stage Company, presents the classic Tony-award-winning musical, Oliver! Join us July 16, 17, 18, 19 & 23, 24, 25 at 8:00 p.m. at the Ironwoods Amphitheater in Ironwoods Park, 147th and Mission Road.

Leawood Stage Company is thrilled to welcome a stellar orchestra and cast with plenty of children actors to perform Oliver! The directing team of Seth McClintock and David Shook will be making their Leawood Stage Company debut after many years of experience in the metro area.

Based on the Dickens novel, Oliver will engage audiences with its drama of sadness and new hope for the orphan Oliver Twist as he navigates the streets of London. Everyone will be delighted with the outstanding musical numbers including Food, Glorious Food, I’d Do Anything, Where is Love?, Consider Yourself, As Long As He Needs Me, and Who Will Buy, which are all musical theatre favorites.

Leawood Stage Company presents the highest quality free theater in the area. We offer summer performances free to the public, serving senior citizens on a limited budget or families that might otherwise not be able to afford live theater performances. This is a great way to introduce young audiences to the arts.

Bring the entire family to beautiful Ironwoods Park to enjoy Oliver! Some seating is available at the amphitheater, however we recommend bringing a blanket and/or lawn chairs. Picnics are welcome but alcohol is not allowed in the park. Dogs must be leashed and we request that they not disturb the audience members around them. Check Leawood Stage Company website for rain cancellations or the Parks & Recreation Rainout line at 913-982-2433.

Please plan for extra time in getting to the park this summer due to the road closure at 143rd and Mission Road. We suggest that drivers take Nall Avenue or Kenneth Road to 151st and Mission and turn north on Mission to access Ironwoods Park.

For more information please call the Cultural Arts Coordinator at (913) 663-9157, prior to the day of the show, or visit Leawood's website or Leawood Stage Company website for information and detour maps.
