Leawood Stage Company Presents New Musical “British Invasion”
The Leawood Stage Company is proud to present a new musical British Invasion featuring the best British rock and roll of the mid-1960s, November 5, 6, 7 and 8, 2015 inside the Lodge at Ironwoods Park. Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances will begin at 8:00 p.m. and a Sunday matinee performance will begin at 2:00 p.m.
The cast of talented vocalist will perform this revue of songs developed for the 50th anniversary of the phenomenon that swept America in the mid-1960s. Rock and Pop music groups such as the Beatles, The Dave Clark Five, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones as well as soloists Dusty Springfield, Tom Jones and Petula Clark, became popular on both sides of the Atlantic.
British Invasion will tell the history of era through music, dance and video. Many aspects of British culture, became popular in the United States, and were significant to the rising "counterculture" of the 60s. This “rockumentary” style production will be a hit with fans of the 60s music and culture.
Leawood Stage Company is thrilled to welcome back Eric Van Horn as writer and director of British Invasion. Van Horn has directed prior LSC shows such as Brigadoon, Bye, Bye Birdie and Nunsense. He has also performed in Leawood as “Buffalo Bill” in Annie Get Your Gun and “Fagin” in this summer’s production of Oliver. Van Horn has been responsible for writing, directing and assembling some of the most talented vocalist for past award winning music revues for other local theaters. The talented cast includes: Rene Blinn, Brad Clay, Kate Flores, Amy Saia, Brian Shortess, Tracy Shortess, Alecia Stultz, and Jacob Swaney.
