Leawood Stage Company to Host “Letters From the Grave”
Presented by Actor’s Choice
Leawood Stage Company is once again pleased to host staged reading performances by Actor’s Choice, a division of the Senior Barn Players. They will present Letters from the Grave, an original murder mystery by Tim Landon on Saturday, March 19th at 2:00 pm and Sunday, March 20th at 2:00 pm.
The case is a cold case, 40 years old. College student Amy and her bookstore owner aunt receive an old trunk full of books, as a donation. Amongst the books are old letters that tell the love story of Claire, a college student and Daniel, a soldier. There are clues in the letters that all was not as it seemed. Claire ends up murdered and Daniel is killed in Viet Nam, but too many details are not adding up. Amy and her aunt begin to unravel a curious mystery with surprising twists and turns.
This is Tim Landon's first mystery play. He became inspired while performing adapted mystery book plays at Mysteryscape Book Store in Overland Park. Tim has written several short plays and stories, and is currently working on a novel. Recently retired from his long-term day job, he now does part time work with his wife, Karen, in addition to his writing.
Letters from the Grave will be held in the Oak Room of Leawood City Hall, 4800 Town Center Drive. Enter the Community Center through the north doors on the lower level of City Hall.
Actor’s Choice, supported by the Senior Barn Players, presents challenging material to Kansas City audiences. This staged reading, directed by Petra Allen, will feature seasoned actors: Marilyn Harrison, Karen Cox, JoAn Staton, Hank Rector, and Frank Robertson.
Don’t miss this opportunity to experience a performance by Actor’s Choice. Meet the performers at a reception following the performance. Refreshments will be served.
Reservations are not necessary. For more information please call the Leawood Cultural Arts office at (913) 663-9157.
