Historic Oxford Schoolhouse Presents a Lecture on My Fair Lady
The docents of the Historic Oxford Schoolhouse will host a fascinating program on Thursday, April 28th beginning at 7:00 pm in the historic one-room schoolhouse in Ironwoods Park, located at 147th & Mission Road, Leawood, Kansas 66224.
This lecture will examine the creation of this iconic show and how Frederick Loewe's music and Alan Jay Lerner's lyrics and book help bring to life George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion on the musical stage.
This program will be presented by Dr. Paul Laird, Professor of Musicology at the University of Kansas. Laird has taught at KU since 1994 and holds a PhD in music from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Larid won a University of Kansas W.T. Kemper Fellowship for Teaching Excellence. Laird has published many articles and books on aspects of the musical theater.
Leawood is honored to host Paul Laird for this lecture to share his passion and vast knowledge of the American musical theater.
The Historic Oxford Schoolhouse presents this program in coordination with the Leawood Stage Company's production of My Fair Lady. Attendees at the lecture will have a chance to win tickets for My Fair Lady.

The production of My Fair Lady, directed by Kevin Bogan will be performed in cooperation with the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, May 5, 6, 7 at 7:30 pm. Performances will be held at Church of the Resurrection, 13720 Roe Avenue, Leawood, KS.
Advance tickets for My Fair Lady will be sold throughout the month of April at the Parks and Recreation Desk on the lower level of Leawood City Hall for only $10.00 per person, or $5.00 for students and seniors, 65 and older. Cash or checks only please.
