Lerner and Loewe’s musical masterpiece is one of the most loved musicals from the Golden Age of Broadway. This production of My Fair Lady is a unique collaboration of resources between the Leawood Stage Company and the Church of the Resurrection. LSC’s actors will be enhanced by a chorus of over 120 voices by blending our performers with the members of the church choir. The orchestra will be comprised of LSC musicians and the church’s orchestra members. This blending of talents will result in perhaps the most dynamic volunteer theater production in the region.
My Fair Lady, a classic Broadway musical comedy tells the story of the over-confident Professor Higgins and his experiment that attempts to transform a cockney girl, Eliza, into a proper-speaking lady. Higgins and his friend Colonel Pickering make great progress with the girl and even take her to the horse races and a grand ball. Nevertheless, they still treat Eliza as a mere experiment and not as a human being. When Eliza runs away, Higgins realizes that she is so much more.
Based on “Pygmalion,” by George Bernard Shaw, with book, music and lyrics by Lerner and Loewe, My Fair Lady is filled with song favorites such as Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?, With a Little Bit of Luck, I Could Have Danced All Night, On the Street Where You Live, Get Me to the Church on Time and I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face.
Leawood Stage Company is pleased to welcome back Kevin Bogan as director of My Fair Lady. Bogan has directed, provided music direction, and performed onstage in productions across the metro area including Leawood Stage Company. He last directed Promises, Promises for LSC in 2015.
All tickets are general admission seating. Advance tickets are now on sale at the Parks and Recreation Desk on the lower level of Leawood City Hall for only $10.00 per person, or $5.00 for students and seniors, 65 and older. Cash or checks only please.
