Leawood Arts Council to Hold Art Exhibit & Reception
at Better Homes and Gardens, Kansas City Homes Office

The Leawood Arts Council and Parks and Recreation Departments are pleased to present our first annual “Natural Reflections” Plein Air show and reception at the new Better Homes and Gardens, Kansas City Homes office in Mission Farms. Together they will host this community event to celebrate the work created by local artists within the Leawood Park system.

The show will run July 7th - 17th, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm daily. Drop by the Better Homes and Gardens office to view and purchase art. All of the pieces will be created by local painters and photographers during the weekend of June 11th and 12th in Leawood City Park, Tomahawk Creek Greenway, Tomahawk Creek Park, I-Lan Park, Gezer Park or Ironwoods Park.

An Awards Reception will be held Sunday, July 10, 2016 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. The reception will be open to the public featuring entertainment, music, and food at no charge. All artwork will be available for purchase during the reception and throughout the weekend.

A portion of the sale price of all art will go to the Leawood Foundation to fund 2016 projects including a new “all inclusive” playground in City Park. Planned improvements to the City Park Playground will include a new play surface to improve safety and inclusive playground structures that will accommodate “play for all”.

The Foundation is a charitable fund of the Community Foundation of Johnson County, a regional affiliate of the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity. The mission of the Leawood Foundation is to provide resources for activities and projects that might not be provided through tax dollars. The Leawood Foundation is committed to promoting cultural, educational and environmental activities and projects that enrich the lives of our residents and our community.

The 2016 “Natural Reflections” event is sure to be the top art event of the summer in Leawood. For more information or to purchase art, please contact the Cultural Arts Coordinator at 913-663-9157 or go to Leawood's website and click on the “Natural Reflections” logo.
