Into the Night Fall Festival at Ironwoods Park
Leawood Parks and Recreation is hosting the first annual “Into the Night
Fall Festival” Friday, October 7th from 5:30 - 9:00 pm throughout Ironwoods
Park, located at 147th & Mission Road, Leawood, Kansas 66224.
The evening will be filled with fun for the entire family. Activities will
include, Hayrides around the park, petting zoo, nature presentations at the
Prairie Oak Nature Center, games in the Historic Oxford Schoolyard, fortune
teller, face painter, balloon artist, and storytellers. Make S’mores at the
campfire ring near the cabins.
Entertainers will include Back of the Van Band, Vida Dance Company, Magic
Bob, and headliner Dino O’Dell. The event will conclude with a showing of
the movie “The Witches” based on the Roald Dahl’s novel of the same name.
Dahl’s family favorites include “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and
“Matilda”. The 1990 movie is rated PG and runs 90 minutes.
The Oxford Schoolhouse and the Prairie Oak Nature Center will offer crafts
for kids all evening long.
Rudy Garcia’s, extreme pumpkin carving demonstration will take place at the
Lodge. Garcia is one of the top pumpkin-carving experts in the country.
Watch as his life-like creatures emerge from a gourd. Rudy’s pumpkin
creatures are not a standard hollowed-out, cut-through jack-o-lantern but
instead they are sculpted from the surface in.
Garcia has worked in the toy industry for the past 20 years. He is now
works for companies such as Marvel Entertainment, Lucasfilm LDT, Hallmark
Cards, and Universal Monsters and is the owner of Clayboy Creature Shop,
selling creatures online.
Rudy Garcia has shown his artistry across the country and around the world.
We are privileged to have him here in our community. Don’t miss this unique
opportunity to watch the sculptor work.
Carloads will be charged $10.00 upon entry to the park in exchange for
wristbands which will allow everyone open access to all activities, crafts,
games and entertainment without further charge. For a complete schedule of

Three Dog Bakery of Leawood will also hold their annual “Growl-o-ween” event
at the amphitheater during the event. Dogs can compete for prizes and
participate in activities and a costume contest just for your four-legged
family members. You must register in advance for “Growl-o-ween” at Three
Dog Bakery, located at 119th and Roe on the south side of Camelot Court.
In the event of rain, all indoor activities will continue as scheduled, as
well as any that can move indoors. There will be no future dates scheduled
for the few activities that cannot move inside such as, hayrides, and
campfire. The only exception is “Growl-o-ween” , which will offer a rain
date to registered participants.
