Holiday Camp - Dec. 27 - 30

The City of Leawood is offering Holiday camps this year that feature Play-
Well TEKnologies and Mad Science. These camps are designed so that you can
register separately for both camps to make it a full day experience during
your break. If you are registered for both camps, Leawood Parks &
Recreation will provide a supervised lunch between the two camps. So hurry
and register for one or both camp sessions!


Pre-Engineering with LEGO
Ages 5-6 years

Let your imagination run wild with tens of thousands of LEGO! Build
engineer designed projects such as boats, bridges, mazes and motorized cars,
and use special pieces to create your own unique design! Explore endless
creative possibilities of the LEGO building system with the guidance of an
experienced Play-WEll instructor. This is an ideal way to prepare young
builders for the challenge of Engineering FUNdamentals.

Engineering FUNdamentals with LEGO
Ages 7-12 years

Power up your engineering skills with Play-Well TEKnologies and tens of
thousands of LEGO! Apply real-world concepts in physics, engineering and
architecture through engineer-designed projects such as arch bridges,
skyscrapers, motorized cars and the Battletrack! Design and build as never
before, and explore your craziest ideas in a supportive environment. An
experienced instructor will challenge new and returning students to engineer
at the next level.

Mad Science Camps

All classes will be taught by Mad Science staff and will be held at the
Leawood Community Center (lower level of City Hall)

Secret Agent Lab
Ages 7-12 years

Step into the shoes of a detective - uncover the science involved in
evidence gathering and analysis. Become a super sleuth and learn clever
ways of performing tasks in this hands-on view of the science that spies
use. From decoding messages to metal detectors and night vision, campers
will have the opportunity to check out spy equipment and discover the
technological tools of detection!

My First Science Lab
Age 5-7 years

What do worms eat? Why do some things float, while others sink? How do our
senses work and what's inside our bodies? Young scientists will have fun
exploring the lights, colors, sounds and music of the natural world. Hands-
on sessions will teach senses, bodies, animals, insects and simple
chemistry. Camp includes a daily take home activity, a lab coat and
goggles. Please provide a healthy snack for your child each day.
