Leawood Stage Company to Hold Auditions for “Annie”

Calling all actors, singers and dancers!
The Leawood Stage Company will hold auditions for Annie Saturday, March 4th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday, March 5th from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Oak Room on the lower level of Leawood City Hall. Auditioners should enter through the north doors of the building. Audition applications will be accepted 30 minutes prior to the end of each time period.

Call backs for lead roles only will be held by invitation only the evening of Sunday, March 5th in the same location.

Everyone auditioning must prepare 16 measures of a song from a musical. Please bring sheet music in your key as an accompanist will be provided. Those who wish to audition for Annie should also be prepared to participate in a short dance/movement audition: comfortable dress and shoes are suggested.

Bring a photo and resume if available. No appointment time is necessary as auditions are first come, first served. Audition forms may be filled out in advance by downloading the form from www.leawoodstageco.org.

Leawood Stage Company’s big outdoor summer family musical will be presented July 13, 14, 15, 16 & 20, 21, 22 at the Ironwoods Park Amphitheater, and promises to be an enjoyable night of theatre under the stars.

Chris McCoy will direct Annie, based on the popular comic strip by Harold Gray. Annie, the beloved classic, has become a worldwide phenomenon and winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

Leawood Stage Company is thrilled to welcome back Chris McCoy as Director and Choreographer. Chris has directed three popular summer musicals for LSC: The Music Man in 2007 and Guys & Dolls in 2010 and Hello Dolly in 2014. McCoy serves as the Artistic Director of the company and we are honored to have him direct for us again. His directorial style is dedicated to presenting classic American comedies with modern sensibilities.

Little orphan Annie charms everyone's hearts despite her bleak start in 1930s New York City. Annie is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of the orphanage run by the bitter Miss Hannigan. She finds a new home with billionaire, Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy. Annie, will have a large cast of children and adults.

If you cannot attend auditions, video or YouTube auditions will be accepted. Please contact April Bishop at least a week prior to the audition weekend to make arrangements.

Leawood Stage Company has focused on family fun for 19 years and we encourage you to be part of this fabulous community theatre experience. We encourage performers of all ages, backgrounds, ethnicities, ability levels, and experience to audition for Annie which features great roles for children and adults.

Please visit www.leawoodstageco.org for show descriptions, rehearsal dates, show dates, and character breakdowns.
